I just got back from Plaza Senayan and watched at Channel NewsAsia : Pen beating trend at Korea??

Pen Beating is the art (or sport?) of beating in rythm with a pen. In the news, a Korean boy named Jaewoon, the pioneer, showcases his ability of beating with pen. He uses the Steadtler coloring pen (ouch, doesn't the tint get hurt?) and makes rythmic beats, consists of palm beating and the pen itself. He doesn't just make his own rythm, but to be more interesting, he follow the rythm of songs, from RnB, hip hop, to pop and classical.

Turns out he also made notation, just like piano, drums, guitar, etc.
A - palm beating.
B - the tip of the pen beating.
C - the whole pen beating.
D - hand knuckle beating.
It has became very popular in his school and soon his friends are fans. They come to Jaewoon for lessons and soon form a group beating.

You know what I think about it? I think it's very cool. It sounds really great and I've never heard such a thing like that. Maybe I will try it with my own Steadtler pen... LOL. Wish me luck!
